Violent and controlling behavior within a family affects all family members. The Odyssey Family Counseling Center provides domestic violence services designed for every family member at our community-based center in Henry County. Counseling services are also provided out of the administrative office in Hapeville. The following services are available for families: |
The Battered Women's Group is a free support group for women who are victims of domestic violence or who have a history of violent relationships. The group meets in the Henry County office once a week, during the evening hours.
The Men's Domestic Violence Program is a 24-week Family Violence Intervention Program certified by the state. The program teaches anger management skills, as well as dealing with controlling behaviors and attitudes which promote violence. Services are provided on a sliding-fee scale.

Children who witness domestic violence in their home frequently experience behavior problems, sleep disturbances and overwhelming anxiety and fear. Play therapy is employed as a powerful tool to help them deal with feelings of being traumatized and frightened after experiences with domestic violence.

Due to the risk to the victims, Odyssey does not treat the victims and perpetrators of domestic violence conjointly. Since other family members may also be participating in some of our programs for crime victims, the men’s group is held on an evening when other family members are not on-site.
