Charles Releford, JR., CPM
Mr. Releford graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Fisk University / Meharry Medical College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Morehouse College. He recently completed a course of study at the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government as a Certified Public Manager (CPM). Most recently, Charles served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Clayton County Community Services Board. The Clayton CSB serves as the “safety net” provider for behavioral health services in the State of Georgia. Prior to his Clayton County position, he served as Chief of Staff for the Fulton County Health Department and the Department of Behavioral Health. In this role, he provided executive level management, strategic visioning and administrative support for the department. Mr. Releford played a leadership role in Fulton County’s approach to the reduction of health disparities through the application of the effects of various social determinants of health guiding the development of an overall integrated care approach in a public health setting.
Mr. Releford has served as a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Morehouse School of Medicine, where he held the rank of Instructor of Clinical Psychiatry. He served in numerous capacities of increasing responsibility during his tenure at the school including: Director of Human Resources Development, Department Administrator III, Project Director for the Southeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center, and Executive Director for the Cork Institute on Black Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse. He served as Principal Investigator for the following projects: Southeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration SAMHSA-CSAT), Alcohol Risk Management Coalition (DOE), the Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring Program (NIJ) and the Historically Black College and University Consortium on Substance Abuse (SAMHSA-CSAT).
Mr. Releford brings a zeal for helping the communities he serves and is active on many boards including the Southern Crescent Technical College Board of Trustees, A.Z. Kelsey Academy Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Board of Deacons.
