Stephanie Barnhart, LCSW

Clinical Operations Director

Stephanie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Florida State University.  Prior to becoming the Odyssey’s Clinical Operations Director in 2014, she served as Odyssey’s Utilization and Corporate Compliance Manager.  Stephanie has worked in the Atlanta area in various non-profit and for-profit substance abuse and mental health treatment centers for over 20 years.  During that time, she has had responsibility for not only clinical functions but also administrative functions, most notably program management, compliance, and evaluation.  Stephanie is a former CARF Program Surveyor as well as a former Adjunct Instructor at Kennesaw State University.  In addition to her duties at Odyssey, Stephanie is actively involved as a Board member of the Georgia Society for Clinical Social Work and is a Core Volunteer with Stride Ahead in Decatur.


In her clinical practice, Stephanie works with a number of different types of individuals, most notably those in recovery from chemical addiction as well individuals dealing with challenges of aging or chronic illness, either directly or as a caregiver.  She operates from a strengths-based perspective which helps clients tap into the internal resources they already have to meet their goals.  Stephanie tends toward an eclectic therapeutic approach, choosing whichever model works best for the individual client at any given moment.  Typically, the therapeutic approaches she utilizes include Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.  Stephanie loves animals and is also a trained Equine-Assisted Psychotherapist.  Clients appreciate Stephanie’s sense of humor and her easygoing yet direct communication style.
