Odyssey recognizes that youth have developmental abilities and needs which differ from those of adults, resulting in the need for a different approach to behavioral and mental health treatment.  Our services for children and adolescents reflect these differences and are highly customizable for each individual child and family situation.  Child and adolescent mental health services provided by Odyssey include:

  • Behavioral Health Assessments (BHA’s)
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Play therapy
  • Art therapy
  • Parent education
child and adult counseling

Children and teens can engage in one or more of the above services depending upon individual needs and the recommendations of the therapist.  Parents or guardians are actively engaged in each child’s therapy so that lessons learned in the therapeutic session can be reinforced in the home or school environment.

School-Based Mental Health Program

9k=
Many children with behavioral or mental health problems are already struggling in school and cannot take extra time outside of the school day for transportation to and from therapy.  Odyssey staff works in partnership with school social workers, teachers, and administrators in a team approach to develop the most effective strategies for students, making it possible to address students’ mental health issues in the school environment.

Odyssey’s therapists have portable Play therapy and Art therapy kits, making all services which are regularly offered at Odyssey Family Counseling Center’s main location also available to clients in the School-based Mental Health Program.
